February News- A Garbage Truck with Love
We’ve been busy over here at Rally for Reid! We are excited to update you on a few special projects we have been working on. First up: Our DIY Waste Management inspired garbage truck/reading corner/bookshelf/toybox in memory of our sweet Reid. We got to deliver it to his preschool last week, and let’s just say we heard the kids were pretty excited about it!
Sweet Reid would have LOVED this and we are happy to share his passion with all current and future preschool students at St. Paul’s. And for a special finishing touch? The Dolly Parton Imagination Library donated an entire set of books (including ALL of Reid’s favorite books), to fill the shelves with wonderful children’s literature. We are so thankful to them and it is truly the perfect way to honor our sweet, heroic garbageman.
Family Spotlight: The McKearney Family
Hudson McKearney was diagnosed in March of 2019 with Lymphoblastic Leukemia, just before his second birthday. At the time, Hudson’s parents were not only dealing with a devastating childhood cancer diagnosis, but also had a 10 week old baby sister to care for. Hudson is being treated at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital and will continue treatment until May 2022.
Although Hudson has endured so much in his short life, he continues to grace his family with his contagious smile and strong-willed personality. He enjoys emergency vehicles, running around outside, and playing with his little sister, Violet. Rally for Reid was thrilled to send Hudson and his family some love this past month!
Want to know how you can help them out? Hudson’s family advocates for blood donation. Hudson and other children with cancer rely on blood and platelet donations to keep them alive and feeling well. Blood donation takes less than an hour and can save up to 3 lives each time you donate!

Our First Annual Rally for Reid Golf Outing will be held on Friday, July 16th at Pinnacle Country Club in Milan, Illinois. Not a golfer? That’s okay! We’ve got plenty of ways for you to get involved. We will have a virtual & live auction and 50/50 raffle. ALL proceeds will go towards our pledge of $25,000 to Stead Family Children’s Hospital Department of Neuro-Oncology Research.
